The 51-year-old farmer at Assin Nyarme Bebu in the Assin South District of the Central Region hanged himself with a sponge in his bedroom where a bottle of alcohol was found beside him.

Assin South District Police Commander, ASP Okyere Andam said the deceased Anthony Acquah, has always threatened to kill himself anytime he's drunk.

The incident, according to the police Commander happened on Monday evening, January 29.

He said when the police got to the scene, the deceased was lying in a pool of blood, dead.

He added that the body had been sent to the hospital for autopsy while investigations continue.
